Bonemass gives a huge cut to all physical damage taken for its duration, and every ranking I read calls it the best power in the game. They are right. It turns boss fights and fuling villages from lethal into manageable, and there is no situation where halving incoming damage is bad.
Eikthyr is the travel power: far cheaper stamina on running and jumping. It is the first power you get and it never stops being useful, because most of Valheim is, honestly, running somewhere. In a group it gets even better, since each player’s power is on its own cooldown and you can chain them.
A tier: situational, but the situations are big
Moder gives you always favourable wind, which is worthless on land and priceless at sea. On a long haul with a cargo hold full of iron it is the best power in the game for that hour. Yagluth resists fire, frost and lightning, which is exactly the damage the late biomes deal.
B tier: honest niches
The Queen reduces the Eitr cost of magic, which is superb if you are a mage and meaningless if you are not. The Elder makes trees fall faster. Genuinely pleasant during a big build or a fine wood run, and forgettable otherwise.
Which to run, when
- Any fight you are nervous about: Bonemass, no exceptions.
- Exploring on foot: Eikthyr.
- Sailing: Moder, swapped on before you leave.
- Ashlands and elemental biomes: Yagluth.
- Logging day: the Elder, and enjoy the novelty.
